CPWD zonal office opened in state

Construction and infrastructure development activities in public sector in the State are set to get a major boost with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) establishing its Zonal office here on Monday.

The public sector construction organisation was earlier functioning under the Zonal Office at Patna with a superintending engineer at the helm in the State. The Zonal office in Bhubaneswar would now function under a Chief Engineer. The office was inaugurated by the first Chief Engineer of Odisha, Sanskar Pattanayak.

The Eastern Zone Office-V will look after the construction and maintenance of all departments under the Central Government, PSUs as well as Centrally-sponsored schemes being implemented in the State. The activities in the State would get a much-needed acceleration as all pre-planning, planning and decision-making initiatives will be taken here, Superintending Engineer AK Khatua said.
