Two youths of Puri who had gone to Cuttack to witness the ‘bhasani’ ceremony of Durga Puja met with a tragic end in a road mishap near the Daya bridge in the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased - Satya Sundar Satpathy and Purna Chandra Nayak - were in their early twenties. A friend of the two, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital of the City.
Satya, Purna and their friend Chhabi Bisoi belonged to Atharanala area of Puri district. The trio had gone to Cuttack on a bike on Thursday evening.
Lingaraj Police said, their bike was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the bridge over the Daya river between 4 am and 5 am. While Satya died on the spot, Purna and Chhabi were rushed to a private hospital after locals informed the police. Purna succumbed to his injuries later while Chhabi is under observation. A case has been lodged with Lingaraj Police.
