PAC to take up coal block issue

A team of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), led by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, is likely to discuss with the State Government its stand on allocation of coal blocks and measures taken by it to prevent water pollution in the State.

Official sources said the PAC members will hold discussions with the State Government on November 3 on the coal block allocation issue.

During its two-day visit, the PAC team is scheduled to undertake an on the spot study in connection with various subjects featured in the report of the CAG, sources added.

The panel will scrutinise alleged irregularities in block allocation based on findings of the CAG. The panel is also likely to visit the mining areas of Coal India.
