Pyari’s allegations baseless, says Naveen

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday dismissed as “false and baseless” the allegations made by rebel MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra that attempts are being made by ministers and MLAs to foil the October 28 rally of Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM).

In a letter to the Chief Minister on Thursday, Pyari had alleged that plans were afoot to create law and order situation in and around the venue if the rally manages to draw a big crowd. He had accused Naveen of misusing the police by keeping his house under surveillance for the last seven months and taping his telephones.

Meanwhile, the Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) on Friday demanded that Pyari should resign from the Rajya Sabha for his statements against the Chief Minister. President of the BYJD and deputy government chief whip Sanjay Dasburma criticised Pyari for announcing that he is still in the BJD after his attempts to depose Naveen were unsuccessful.

Alleging that Pyari and his supporters are working as the ‘B’ team of Congress, Dasburma told mediapersons here that it is ridiculous on his part to claim that BJD workers are with him. Stating that people of the State are firmly behind the Chief Minister, he said conspiracies cannot affect his popularity.

The BYJD which burnt the effigy of Pyari here also demanded his expulsion from the party.
