Commodities under the public distribution system are allegedly being sold in the open market with the Civil Supplies officials unable to tackle the problem.

Last week, the police had seized around 26 bags of wheat left abandoned at an isolated place in Bhanjanagar area.

Again on Sunday, 19 bags of wheat were unloaded from a bus near Bhanjanagar bus stand but none reached to lift the consignment. Locals informed the sub-collector who seized the bags and later handed them over to the Civil Supplies officials.

The same night, Khallikote Police while patrolling came across a group loitering suspiciously near Balibada village.

The police found a tanker hidden near a tree and seized 31 barrels of kerosene. The driver and helper of the tanker have been detained for questioning.
