One Srikant Barik was arrested on Thursday by Banharpali police for allegedly raping a minor girl who was working as a domestic help in his house. He was sent to judicial custody on Friday.
This is the second case after surrender and arrest of Mukul Singh on similar charge, who is now facing judicial proceedings in a Jharsuguda Sub-jail.
Sources said Srikant, a mining engineer, was staying in MCL colony with his family and had kept a 16-year-old tribal girl as domestic help. On Tuesday and Wednesday while his family members were away, Srikant raped the girl and warned her not to reveal the incident to anybody.
But the victim girl informed the local police about the incident following which IIC of Banharpali police station AB Guru arrested Srikant. After medical examination of the girl, the accused engineer was forwarded for judicial custody on Friday.
