Seminar on Women's Rights

The Rotary Club of the Capital City, New Horizon, organised a seminar on Women’s Rights to mark the Human Rights Day on Tuesday.  The speakers of the seminar deliberated on the topic ‘Women’s Right is Human Right’.

Chief speaker of the event and Social Science Professor Jyotsna Mishra said that the “inherent traditional and historical bias” against women is a deep-rooted problem. There is an urgent need for introspection to ward off such evil from the society.

State Social Welfare Board, Odisha chairperson, Nibedita Nayak, was the chief guest of the event.

State Commission for Women (SCW) former member Namrata Chadha was the guest of honour. All the speakers focused on the importance of women’s rights in the society and the important role it played in empowering them.  The Rotary Club bulletin ‘The Dawn’ was released on the occasion. Two new members were inducted into the club.
