Union Secretary of Steel G Mohan Kumar on Wednesday visited the site at Balianta where a full-fledged campus of international standard is being planned for Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPNSI).
The 25 acre of land under Balianta tehsil in Khurda’s Jagannathpur Mouza was provided by the State Government for the institute. Kumar said the Centre has also planned to make the institute a centre of excellence. Secretary of Steel and Mines, Government of Odisha, G Srinivas was present.Kumar and Srinivas also visited BPNSI at Puri where they had an interaction with the staff as well as students to take stock of the state of affairs in the institute. The students requested for support from the Government for better training and placement.
Kumar informed that the Centre has already written to all the steel plants under the Ministry of Steel to support BPNSI in form of training and placement.
