Miscreants Attack 2, Loot Rs 10.75 Lakh

In a daylight robbery, four criminals on Tuesday looted `10.75 lakh after attacking two workers of a wholesale trader Binod Sahu at Sandhamahanty street in the city.

Workers of the trader regularly deposited cash in a bank nearby his shop. On Tuesday morning, one of the staff Jagan Sahu, took `10.75 lakh cash in a bag and left in Sahu’s car to deposit in the bank along with driver Bhima Behera.

Hardly 100 metres from the shop, four youths in two motorcycles intercepted the car. While one of them hit the glass pane on the driver’s side and attacked Bhima, the second youth broke the car’s rear side glass and attacked Jagan with a sword. The criminal then snatched the cash bag from Jagan at gun-point and fled the scene.

The profusely bleeding Bhima was taken to MKCG MCH while Jagan filed a case at Badabazaar police station. The police station is just 500 metres away from the spot.

Gamblers arrested

As many 13 persons were arrested by Baidyanathpur police from a house on Tuesday on charges of gambling.

On a tip off about a gambling den operating in Sidharth Nagar, the police raided a house. Police seized playing cards and cash of `1.25 lakh from the house besides, 15 mobile phones and five vehicles from the spot. They were forwarded to court which remanded them in judicial custody.
