The Department of Higher Education has warned the colleges against manipulating and inefficient handling of the self-defence training programme for female students.
DHE will conduct a review meeting on Thursday to take stock of the situation at college levels. All nodal officers of the programme have been asked to attend the meeting and also liaison with their district level self-defence committee.
The nodal officials have been asked to submit details of implementation of the programme in their colleges mentioning the list of master trainers engaged, progress made in every college till date and utilisation of the funds.
The State Government has proposed to provide self-defence training to more than three lakh college girls. But, instances of manipulation of the programme details by some colleges have come up, officials said. Some other colleges have not even begun implementation of the project. Based on the reports provided during the review meeting, DHE will take action.
