A Special Operation Group (SOG) jawan Debashish Nayak (24) was injured in an exchange of fire between Maoists and security personnel in Tekguda forest under Kalimela police limits on Tuesday morning. Nayak received bullet injuries in his arm.

Sources said the exchange of fire took place while security personnel were returning from Tekguda forest to Kalimela after a combing operation. The Maoists shot at five teams of security personnel and the latter retaliated. In the exchange of fire, Nayak was injured, while the Maoists managed to escape. He was admitted to MV-21 health centre and later shifted to district headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated.
