BDA tightens noose around private construction violators

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has tightened its noose around those who violate norms during private constructions.

More than 20 show-cause notices have been issued by the enforcement section of the BDA to stop such constructions during past one week.

The notices have been issued to those who have violated the building plan approval for private constructions.

The violators have been identified following the  formation of the Planning Vigilance Squad (PVS).

The show-cause notices issued by the BDA state the nature of construction undertaken by the private party and the violation detected by the authority.

Each violator has been provided a stipulated time by  which he has to state the reasons. If no response is received from the private developer, the BDA will take action as per the Orissa Development Authorities Act, 1982.

Whenever BDA officials find out that any ongoing construction is in violation of the building plan, such construction will be stopped. Senior BDA officials said more violators will be detected after the grievance cell starts operating from the first week of August.

The BDA officials have also clarified that no oral complaint against any violator will be registered.
