BJP gears up for Modi visit, plans massive rally in October

Inspired by Modi mantra, the State unit of the BJP on Tuesday decided to prepare a fresh chargesheet against the Naveen Patnaik Government and go to people with a series of agitational programmes.

With Gujarat Chief Minister and chairman of the BJP’s national campaign committee Narendra Modi scheduled to visit the State in October, top functionaries of the party had a brainstorming session here and drew up plans on how to utilise his visit for revival of the party in the State.

The party is planning to organise a massive rally in the State Capital in third week of October when Modi is expected here.

Modi during his recent visit to Puri had advised the State leaders to capitalise on the anti-incumbency factor against the BJD Government and the antipathy of the people towards the Congress. As the State Government is embroiled in several scams and the people are still not ready to accept the Congress, there is enough space for the BJP to improve its electoral prospects, Modi had said during his brief interaction with State party leaders at Puri.

He had further advised the State leaders to concentrate on local issues and involve the people in the fight against corruption.

The party is in the process of finalising a series of agitational programmes against the BJD Government commencing from August first week. Public movements will be launched from block level and will culminate in a State level rally here, BJP spokesperson Suresh Pujari told reporters.

The meeting decided that the party will go to the people and remind them of what the ruling BJD had promised them before the last general election and what remained unfulfilled, Pujari said.

The BJP had released a chargesheet against the Government in 2011 when the party had launched ‘Bhrastachar Hatao Abhiyan’ in the State.
