BPUT defers semester exams

In a major relief to its students, the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has postponed its upcoming semester examinations in view of the cyclonic storm and flood.

In a major relief to its students, the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has postponed its upcoming semester examinations in view of the cyclonic storm and flood.

BPUT’s Examination Director issued a notification on Thursday stating that its Autumn Semester Examinations scheduled to be held on October 24 and 25 have been postponed to November 4 and 5 respectively.

A group of students had earlier met BPUT Vice-Chancellor J K Satpathy and submitted a memorandum demanding the examinations to be postponed.

"Majority of the affected districts are yet to receive power. The students would have faced great difficulties in commuting in the aftermath of the cyclone,"said BPUT Student Protection Council (BSPC) president Biplab Mohanty.

The examinations have been shifted for the third, fifth and seventh semesters of BTech, BPharm, BArch, MBA and MCA streams.

The decision has been taken at a time when the university is trying to adhere to a non-negotiable academic calendar.

BPUT faced a lot of flak in the past for delay in conducting the examinations and publication of results.

A revised schedule of the examination will be updated by the BPUT officials in the official website by October 21.
