Say Goodbye to Nikammi Sarkar, Modi Tells Voters

In his attempt to strike a chord with the voters of this region, Modi raked up the issue of the special KBK plan which was virtually scrapped by the Manmohan Singh led UPA Government. The special KBK plan got further boost during Vajpayee’s Government, he said.

BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Friday appealed to people of KBK district to banish the  inefficient BJD Government in the State and UPA Government at the Centre for their injustice to this region.

Launching tirade against both the governments at the Vijay Sankalp Samavesh here, Modi said the time has come to say goodbye to this Nikammi Sarkar (useless government) for failing to keep its promises.

“When people talk of poverty, they cite the example of Balangir while Kalahandi symbolises hunger.

The situation remains unchanged even after 60 years of Congress rule and 14 years of Naveen Patnaik Government, the Gujarat Chief Minister said while narrating the sorry state of affairs in KBK region.

In his attack on BJD Government, Modi said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken the people of Odisha for granted. “He believes that people will continue to support him even if his Government does nothing for them. It surprises me how have you all been tolerating such a government for the last 14 years,” Modi said while campaigning for BJP’s candidate for Balangir Parliamentary constituency Sangeeta Singhdeo and party candidates for Assembly segment in the district.

Accusing the BJD government of destroying the State, Modi said the Government has done nothing for the farmers. While there is no irrigation facilities in Odisha,  farmers are not getting remunerative price for their produce, he alleged.

In his attempt to strike a chord with the voters of this region, Modi raked up the issue of the special KBK plan which was virtually scrapped by the Manmohan Singh led UPA Government.

“The special KBK plan formulated by the Narasimha Rao Government received further boost during the AB Vajpayee-led NDA Government. When Congress-led UPA Government came to power, the scheme came to the end due to their apathy to this region,” he said.

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his remark that money does not grow on tree when some Odisha MPs met him and requested to continue special financial assistance for KBK region, Modi said this speaks about the mindset of Congress towards people of Odisha.

He exhorted the people of the region to give a befitting reply to the Congress. “I have come here to remind you that the time has come to throw away these inefficient governments from the State and Centre,” he said and appealed to overenthusiastic crowd to send maximum number of BJP MPs to Lok Sabha and MLAs to Assembly to bring a change in the situation.

State BJP president KV Singhdeo, national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan and Sangeeta Singhdeo also spoke.
