BHUBANESWAR: The Utkal University plans to implement choice-based credit system (CBCS) in all the autonomous colleges affiliated to it. The CBCS will be implemented in the colleges from the 2015-16 academic session. CBCS is a mandatory component under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan.
There are about 15 autonomous colleges affiliated to Utkal University that would be covered under the CBCS. Students will have a wider choice of subjects and flexibility under the new system. “All the courses would have credit system and this will help bridge the divide between Humanities, Commerce and Science studies,” said an official of the university.
This was discussed at varsity’s academic council meeting on Wednesday.
