Tribals Take Out Rally over Demands

BINKA ( SONEPUR ): Hundreds of armed tribals took out a rally here on Wednesday demanding fulfillment of their 11 point charter of demands.

Among other things, they are demanding implementation of Forest Rights Act, handing over of agriculture and homestead lands to tribals as approved in gram and palli sabhas in villages of Seledi, Baunsuni, Kaitara, Sankara, Charda and Mohanda under the block, action against Government employees and students who are availing the benefits meant for tribals by submitting fake caste certificates, special revenue village status to tribal inhabited hamlets, enlisting of tribals under BPL category and allotment of houses under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY).

They submitted a memorandum to Binka Tehsildar, Lambodar Dharua, which is addressed to the President, Prime Minister, Governor of Odisha and SC/ST Welfare Minister, Government of Odisha.

In a separate meeting, they demanded closure of country liquor outlets, establishment of a model Plus Two college in the district and establishment of a sessions court in Binka.
