Freedom Fighter Passes Away

KENDRAPARA: Freedom fighter Purushottam Nayak died at SCB Medical, Cuttack on Sunday. He was 104. He is survived by four sons, three daughters and grandchildren. He was suffering from old age ailment and was admitted to  SCB Medical on November 1.

Nayak was the vice-president of All India Freedom Fighters Association. Born at Santapur village near Kendrapara in 1910, Nayak had led the anti-British movement in the State in August, 1942.

He participated in Gandhi’s famous padyatra in 1934. He was elected from Kendrapara Assembly seat as a Congress candidate in 1953.
