SALEPUR: A hyena cub was beaten to death by villagers of Balipada and Kulasankhua under Kantapada block within Govindpur police limits on Wednesday. Sources said the animal had strayed into human habitation in search of water in the afternoon when locals spotted and chased it. They cornered the cub in a field at Kulasankhua and beat it to death with sticks. Later, they tied a rope to its legs and dragged the carcass to the cremation ground near Kulasankhua Primary School for burial.
