Dumper Hits House, Woman Killed

SALEPUR:A 35-year-old woman was crushed to death after a dumper rammed into a thatched house near Baranga Railway Station on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Hini Behura of Raghunathpur under Baranga police limits. The incident occurred at about 5 am, when she was sweeping the house where she was living on rent with her husband Bhagya Dhara. Driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle, leading to the accident. The dumper belonged to a private construction firm. Enraged over the incident, locals blocked Nandankanan-Station road paralysing vehicular traffic for more than three hours demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. The blockade was withdrawn after GRP, Cuttack and the company provided Rs one lakh as compensation to the family of the deceased, Rs 40,000 towards repair of the damaged house and Rs 10,000 towards repair of a cabin, which was also damaged by the dumper.
