BYJD Demands Sarkhel's Arrest

PARADIP:  Activists of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), led by Paradip unit president Susil Mohapatra, on Thursday staged a demonstration and burnt the effigy of Congress and Trade Union leader Bapi Sarkhel demanding his arrest over misappropriation of funds.

They alleged that Sarkhel had availed loan of `one crore from a private bank here by violating norms. His associate Khalid Khan was the guarantor for the loan. Sahid Nagar Police of Bhubaneswer had arrested Khan from the City on charges of violating banking norms for availing loans, they added.

They also sought the termination of membership of the leader from the Congress party. On the other hand, activists of Kujang block OBC Cell of Congress, led by president Prafulla Kumar Swain, burnt the effigy of Excise and Cooperation Minister Damodar Rout at Kujang, Rahama and Tirtol areas protesting the statement of the minister against Sarkhel.
