Four Killed in Road Mishap

SABARIMALA: Four persons died on the spot and another sustained serious injuries in a road accident at Bahiapadar on NH-26 under Barpali police limits of Bargarh district on Friday. The deceased are Subodh Seth (22), Sudhir Bhoi (22), Uttar Badhei (22) and Sursagar Meher (65).

According to reports, Subodh, Sudheera and Uttar of Padhanpali in Bargarh district were going to Sadhupali under Barpali police limits to drop a newly-wed bribe at her in-laws’ house. The three were travelling in a separate vehicle when their vehicle collided head-on with a pick-up van coming from the opposite direction. They died on the spot.

FOUR.jpgThe driver of the pick-up van also lost control over his vehicle following the accident and it hit a tree. As a result, one Sursagar Meher, who was present at the spot, was killed and the driver was injured.

Soon after the accident, tension gripped the area and villagers blocked the road for more than two hours demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased. However, police rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors after which, the blockade was removed.

The bodies have been seized by the police and sent for autopsy. Further investigation is on.
