Koraput Reels Under Heat Wave

People have been feeling the heat for the last four days as the day temperature touched 36 degree Celsius.

JEYPORE: Intense heat condition gripped Koraput district and the hilly areas, which are termed as coolest places in the district, were not spared either. The day temperature on Friday was recorded at 39 degree Celsius, the highest for this time of the year. People have been feeling the heat for the last four days as the day temperature touched 36 degree Celsius. The temperature shot up to 39 degrees on Friday forcing people to remain indoors.

The district records 39 to 40 degree Celsius from April end or early May.

The blocks of Jeypore, Koraput, Borrigumma, Kotpad, Koraput, Narayanpatana, Bandhugam, Boipariguda and Kundra wore a deserted look after 11 am on Friday.

The coolest hilly places of Pottangi, Nandapur and Laxmipur are also boiling at 37 degree Celsius, four degrees higher than the corresponding period last year.

District medical sources said no sunstroke cases have been reported so far and government machineries are keeping a watch to provide immediate treatment in the event of such cases get reported.
