Lecturers Strike Genuine: Narasingh

Narasingh Mishra said the strike by the lecturers is genuine and the Government should listen to their demands.

BALANGIR: Even as the lecturers withdrew their strike after a meeting with the Government on Saturday, Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra said the strike by the lecturers is genuine and the Government should listen to their demands.

Talking to mediapersons, Mishra said the lecturers are demanding full grant and other facilities but the Government is ignoring the demands. The block grant lecturers of 488 and 662 category colleges in Odisha put their strike on hold on Saturday in view of the future of the students.

Around 10,000 block grant lecturers were on strike for five days and had boycotted the evaluation of Plus-Two examination papers demanding abolition of block grant system, salary on a par with the Government teachers and increase in retirement age from 60 to 62 years.
