BHUBANESWAR:  Even as BJP on Sunday levelled fresh charges against Minister of State for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Sanjay Dasburma, the Minister faced criticism from his  own partymen over the notice issued to him by CBI to submit documents relating to vehicles owned by him and his family members.

Referring to the demand from the opposition political parties - Congress and BJP - for resignation of Dasburma from the Ministry after the CBI notice, Leader of the BJD parliamentary party in Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahatab  said it is the prerogative of the Chief Minister.

“But the demand from the opposition parties for his resignation  is a good suggestion,” he said. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra on Sunday alleged that the CBI is  deliberately delaying the investigation to protect influential people involved in the chit fund scam.

“The notice has been issued to the  Minister only to protect him,” he said. Criticising the CBI for slowing down the investigation during the last two  years, the BJP leader demanded action against the present Investigating Officers (IOs). He alleged that the IOs have deliberately delayed the chit fund investigation to safeguard the interest of some influential people.
