Bike Lifting Racket Busted,Three Held

CUTTACK: Badambadi Police on Monday busted a motorcycle lifting racket, arrested three persons and recovered more than 40 two-wheelers from their possession.

The accused were identified as Ramakant Mandal alias Jitu of Erasama in Jagatsinghpur district, Rajesh Mohapatra alias Raja of Mahanga in Cuttack district and Satybrata Sahoo, the buyer of stolen bikes.

As many as 19 motorcycles were recovered from Jitu and 15 from Raja. Six two-wheelers were recovered from Sahoo who had purchased those from the duo.

While Jitu faces four criminal cases, Raju has eight in his name, police said. A manhunt has been launched to nab other three members of the racket - Ganesh Barik of Badachana, Sunil Balmaik of Kanheipur and Daktar Gagrai of Jajpur Road.
