Nalco to Set up Solar Light in 163 Villages

 KORAPUT: The Nalco has decided to install solar electrification systems in 163 periphery villages of Damanjodi in the district where the company’s mines and refinery complex is located.

The ` nine crore project will be executed by Nalco Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The foundation has already installed 30 solar street lights in two villages on a pilot basis. Besides, Nalco has received proposals from local Sarpanches, MLAs, MPs and district administration to take up different infrastructure projects in the villages of Damanjodi and Pottangi blocks.

Similarly, Nalco is planning to implement 49 projects in the villages at an estimated cost of `15.83 crore in the first phase. At least 32 projects at an estimated cost of `24.33 crore will be implemented in the second phase.
