BHUBANESWAR: The Cuttack Vigilance Division on Monday arrested Additional Tehsildar Umesh Chandra Lenka on charges of graft.
Lenka, posted in Garadpur tehsil of Kendrapara district, was nabbed by Vigilance sleuths while he was accepting an illegal gratification of `3000 from one Jugal Kishore Mahali of Nadia Banali village under Patkura police limits.
The Government official had demanded the amount from Mahali to issue a record of rights document and property registration. Mahali had reported the matter to Vigilance which laid a trap and nabbed Lenka.
The official was booked under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act and produced in a Vigilance court.
