Trial Run of 5 New Aahar Centres

BHUBANESWAR: Officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation conducted a trial run of five new Aahar centres in the City on Tuesday.

The new Aahar centres will come up near Durga Mandap in Nayapalli, SUM Hospital, Unit II Old Bus Stand, Baramunda Bus Stand and Kalinga Hospital in Chandrasekharpur. These centres would be opened from April 14.

Launched on April 1 last year, Aahar scheme aims to provide meals to urban poor at `5 and is operational in four centres in Bhubaneswar.

At present, the scheme runs in five cities - Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Berhampur and Rourkela - from 21 centres providing cheap meal to around 20,000 people.
