Maoist Posters Spread Panic

NUAPADA:  Maoist posters threatening to blow up the residence of Nuapada SP created a flutter in five gram panchayat headquarters in Nuapada district on Thursday. The posters were found in Dharambandha, Chulabhat, Bharuanmunda, Motanuapada and Aamanara besides Torra village under Nuapada block where the rebels had called a bandh on the day.

The posters demanded cancellation of a proposal to construct police station in  Dharambandha and threatened that anybody defying their dictates would be tried in Kangaroo Court.

The villagers preferred to remain indoors and all the business and commercial establishments remained shut. Even vehicles and public transport remained off the road.

They warned the contractor engaged in construction of Dharambandha to Banjhipani, Dharambandha to Chulabhat and Bahinsadadar road to stop work immediately.

They also threatened two contractors, Bhanu Kalar and Satish Jain, to stop fleecing people and leave work.  Nuapada SP Pinaki Mishra said it seems to be a rivalry among contractors working on various PMGSY roads. The matter is being investigated and the posters have been seized, he added.
