2 Held for Smuggling Chrome Ore

CUTTACK: Choudwar police on Sunday raided a scrap godown at OTM Square here and arrested two persons on charges of illegal chrome ore trade.

The arrested duo are scrap vendor Ashok Kumar Swain of Gupteswar Sahi under Choudwar police limits and truck driver Om Prakash Jadav of Uttar Pradesh. Police also seized a truck laden with seven tonnes of chrome ore, said IIC, Choudwar police station Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra.

Acting on a tip off, police raided the scrap godown and apprehended the two persons who were getting ready to transport the illegal chrome ore to Kolkata. The accused scrap vendor was indulged in collecting chrome from Choudwar locality and transporting it illegally to outside States, police sources said.
