2 Die as Boat Capsizes

SONEPUR:Two persons died and one went missing after the country boat in which they were travelling, capsized near  Telanda Ghat on river Mahanadi under Ulunda block of the district on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Sashi Mahalik (60) and Kampal Bagarti (60). Efforts are on to trace Yudhistir Mahalik who is the husband of Sashi.

According to reports, the boat was carrying eight persons of Sardhapali village. The villagers were travelling to Telanda to participate in the Meru Yatra when the tragedy struck.

Survivors said strong wind resulted in the accident as the boatmen lost control over it. While others in the boat managed to swim to safety, two died and Yudhistir is missing.
