Paddy Procurement Reviewed

BALANGIR: Leader of Opposition and Balangir MLA Narasingh Mishra on Monday reviewed the paddy procurement at a meeting held at DRDA here and expressed dissatisfaction over inordinate delay in payment of dues to farmers.

Mishra asked the Collector to take immediate steps for early release of payment with interest to farmers.

Though the paddy procurement of kharif season has been over, farmers are yet to get money even after three months of sale. As per guidelines, once Government procures paddy from a farmer, it has to be displayed in central procurement database at P-PAS system and the farmer would get the payment within seven days. But the guideline is yet to be implemented in the district, Mishra alleged.

The district administration has already procured 12,000 quintal of paddy amounting `1.22 crore from Agalpur block.

District Civil Supply Officer, representative of Patnagarh MLA Madhab Sai and senior district official were present.
