Zilla Parishad Members Call for Taking Urgent Steps

PARLAKHEMUNDI: Cutting across party lines, members of Zilla Parishad (ZP) expressed concern over drinking water crisis in many rural pockets of Gumma, R Udaygiri and Rayagada blocks of the district during the ZP meeting here on Friday.

They urged the district administration to take immediate steps to address the issue. Executive Engineer of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) wing informed the house that as groundwater level has drastically gone down, tubewells have been rendered defunct. Collector Sudhanshu Mohan Samal directed officials of the RWSS to supply water through tankers.
