Fraud Cry in Coop Society

KENDRAPARA: Employees of Palei Cooperative Society Limited Mini Bank in Adhangamalikeswarpur village under Derabishi block have been accused of embezzling deposits worth `50 lakh. The irregularity came to fore when some depositors came to know that the bank cashier and other employees embezzled money by not showing the deposited money in the society ledgers. On Wednesday many account holders gheraoed the society and demanded stern action against the officials.

Kabita Sahoo of Puripada village, an account holder, said she had deposited `21,000 six months back in her account. Though she was given a deposit slip, the cashier did not enter the amount in ledger.

As many as 2,806 persons had opened their account and deposited money. At least 43 account holders have filed FIR in Derabishi police station.
