HSC Results: Balasore Tops in North

BALASORE: The coastal district of Balasore topped in the North Zone with an overall success rate of 92.9 per cent in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE). The results of were announced on Wednesday.

The district, which notched the third spot in the State, registered a success rate of 85.2 per cent in the regular category. Deogarh district topped in the State with 95.72 pc followed by Koraput at 94.4 pc.

In the North zone, Bhadrak registered a pass percentage of 86.53, followed by Mayurbhanj at 76.02 pc, Keonjhar at 83.82 pc and Jajpur 90.19 pc.

For Balasore the topping on the cake is that the district has the highest number of students who secured A1, A2, B1 and B2 grades among the 30 districts.

While 296 students have scored A1 grade, 2,823 candidates secured A2 followed by 6,259 students in B1 and 7,162 students in B2 grade.

As per record with the zonal office of BSE, 32,273 students from 509 schools had appeared the exam through 158 centres in Balasore district and 29,952 candidates have cleared the test.

Similarly, of the 25,113 students in Bhadrak 21,704 have cleared the test in Bhadrak and of 32,826 students in Mayurbhanj 24,857 have passed. The number of pass students in Keonjhar is 18,831 out of 22,562 and in Jajpur it is 23,847 out of 26,483.

Sources said Bibekananda Prusty of Nilambar High School at Tudigadia in Khaira block of Balasore has been declared topper of the district with 579 marks out of 600.

Himanshu Barik of Saraswati Shishu Vidyamandir at Balia here and Pabitra Tripathy of Kupari High School are learnt to have scored 576 marks each and secured the second spot. Similarly, Krishna Das of DK Academy at Suharia in Bhogarai has scored 572 marks to become third in the district.
