BHUBANESHWAR: Odisha Police came second among States by bagging 16 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) which were announced on the eve of 70th Independence Day.
Telengana Police topped the tally of PMG with 24 medals. The Central Government announced President's Police Medals for distinguished service, meritorious service and gallantry on Sunday.
IG Police (Railways) Vinaytosh Mishra and Inspector CID, Prasanna Kumar Dash were awarded with President's Police Medal for distinguished service. Police Medal for Gallantry was awarded to Kalahandi SP Brijesh Kumar Rai, sergeant Chandra Sekhar Dash, constables Samant Durga, Lukesh Kumar Bhoi and Lalit Kumar Nayak.
Police Medal for Gallantry (2nd Bar to PMG) was awarded to Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra, Sub-Inspector Rabindra Sabar, havildar Santosh Juang, Lance Naiks Siva Sankar Nayak, Pabitra Mohan Nayak and Trinath Totapadia and constables Balabhadra Majhi and Sahadev Dora. Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) was awarded to 11 personnel on the occasion.
The PMMS awardees are Deputy SP (Handwriting), Vigilance Directorate Ajit Kumar Dash, Kharvela Nagar IIC Sanjeeb Kumar Satpathy, Inspector, Special Branch Biswanath Tarini, Vigilance SI Bhargabi Prusty, Vigilance ASI Anjan Kumar Mishra, ASIs Commissionerate of Police, Bhubaneswar Bijaya Kumar Sahu and Chittaranjan Nayak, constables Bana Bihari Mohanty, Matiur Raheman and Gahiruddin Khan and Sepoy 7th OSAP Battalion Sliverius Lakra.
President's Fire Service Medal for Gallantry was awarded to Assistant Fire Officer Rabindra Kumar Swain while Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Services was given to Assistant Station Officer Prasanna Kumar Behera, leading fireman Boas Kujur and driver Havildar Siladitya Nag. Home Guards and Civil Defence Award for Meritorious Service was awarded to CD volunteer Abhiram Khuntia, home guards Chandramani Pattnaik and Bibhuti Bhusan Panda.
