BARIPADA: A tribal couple was hacked to death by unknown persons at Chungusahi village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Sunday night, police said on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Madhu Kala(45) and Somabari Kala(40).
Police said the victims, along with their 12-year old son were taken away on some pretext to a nearby field about 100 meters away from their home where the couple was brutally hacked and stoned to death, while their son sustained injuries.
The culprits fled the scene soon after committing the crime.
The couple was murdered over some dispute, said Govinda Chandra Mallick, Additional SP, Rairangpur. Some people have been detained.
