Toshali crafts fair from Dec 15

BHUBANESWAR: The Toshali Craft Mela will be organised this year from December 15 to 27.
This was informed by Handicrafts Minister Snehangini Churia on Monday. The theme pavilion at the fair will showcase applique weaving of the State. Artisans will demonstrate the use of applique in fashion at the pavilion. Around 350 stalls will be set up at the fair from which 150 will be from other States. In wake of the scrapping of high-value currency notes, the department will install five ATM machines at the venue. The fair will have a food court with 30 established hoteliers and restaurants who will cater to various Odishi and other delicacies.

Cultural programmes will be held everyday from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm in collaboration with Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy and Department of Culture. The major attractions this year will be Bollywood singers Kavita Krishnamurthy and Amit Sana, who will be performing on December 25 and 18 respectively. Besides, facilities like first aid, ambulance service, wheel chairs for old and differently-abled persons, free accommodation to artisans and weavers will be made available in the mela.
