Toppers felicitated at BJB Friends meet

BJB Autonomous College’s alumni association - BJB Friends -  celebrated its annual function on the college premises here on Sunday.

BHUBANESWAR: BJB Autonomous College’s alumni association - BJB Friends -  celebrated its annual function on the college premises here on Sunday. More than 350 of 650 annual members of the association turned up for the event this year.

Best all-round performer’s trophy was awarded to Satwik Patnaik, a student of Sociology. The award, comprised a citation and running trophy (Khandapada Trophy) which were presented by former deputy speaker of Odisha Assembly and alumni Bibhuti Bhushan Singh Mardaraj.
Satwik was the topper in Bachelor of Arts, Sociology in 2015. A champion debater, he also represented his college in national level quiz competitions, Yuva Meet and Paris Climate Change convention.
Toppers in Plus II - Ankit Agarwal in Commerce, Phalguni Samal in Arts and Trupti Biswal in Science streams - were felicitated. In Plus III section, Dipti Mohapatra in Commerce, Anchal Patnaik in Arts and Sourav Sahoo in Science streams received the annual awards.

This year, 1980 batch of the alumni association had organised an inter-college quiz competition. The winners of the event were awarded at the function. The event was organised in memory of ex-student Sudhanshu Nanda who passed away recently, BJB Friends member Debasish Patnaik said.
Principal Mohammed Nawaz Hasan presided over the function and association working president Dr Jagannath Mohapatra delivered the welcome address. Among others, secretary Shyam Patnaik and Ashok Mohanty spoke.
