Naveen Patnaik asks police housing corporation to complete construction of fortified police stations by March, 2017

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the Police Housing Corporation to complete construction of fortified police stations in Maoist-affected areas by March 2017.

Addressing a function where he inaugurated 11 buildings projects of police, fire services, and prison directorate, the chief minister said construction of 70 fortified police stations have been taken up in Left Wing Extremist (LWE) affected areas under the police modernisation scheme out of which 56 have nearly
been completed. "The Police Housing Corporation is required to complete the rest within March 2017," he said.

The chief minister said infrastructure for deployment of CRPF and BSF companies have been taken up and the forces were moved to hitherto unattended areas. "Hope this endeavor will continue till the containment of the LWE is fully achieved," he said.

The chief minister gave appointment letters to 840 candidates in the rank of sub-inspector of police and station officers in fire services. The appointment of these candidates will substantially reduce the vacancies in these ranks and fill up critical manpower gap of Odisha police and fire services at cutting edge level, he said.
