Maoist cadre surrenders before Balangir SP

 BALANGIR : A Maoist cadre, Sanyasi Sagria (18), surrendered before Balangir SP, Ashish Singh on Friday. He is a resident of Nagfena village under Baddokala panchayat under Turekela police limits.
Sanyasi had joined the Maoist organisation last year and was working for  Bargarh-Balangir-Mahasamund division of the CPI(Maoist) outfit.


He was active in Chhatardandi, Patpani, Dandel, Raju, Chanmdili and Gandhamardan reserve forest areas.
Sanyasi told police that he was entrusted with the work of collecting information regarding contractors, labour sardars, movement of security forces in Khaprakhol, Turekela and Lathore areas.


He was also directed to motivate youths of the village and neighbouring areas to join the banned organisation. He was trained in Gandhamardan area for 15 days on handling weapons.
During his stay in the organisation, he met a number of senior Maoist cadres. However, he decided to quit the organisation after being physically tortured by some of the local cadres.
