ROURKELA: Fire Department on Monday conducted a fire safety audit of the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH). A day before, similar audit was done at the Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital.
A team led by Deputy Fire Officer Binod Singh inspected availability of fire safety appliances, efficacy of extinguishers, exist and entry points and adherence to various fire safety norms and National Building Code.
Assistant Fire Officer, Prathasarathi Sahu informed that inspection reports were sent to the Fire Department for necessary action and in phases all hospitals across Sundargarh district would be covered under fire safety audit.
He said additionally the department aims to hold mock drill on fire fighting at least once in a fortnight at high rise residential buildings, educational institutions, shopping malls and commercial establishments.
