BHUBANESHWAR: The State Vigilance on Friday conducted simultaneous raids on the residential and office premises of Suprintendant of Puri District Jail, Karna Pradhan, on allegations of possession of disproportionate assets.
The sleuths, belonging to Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division searched Pradhan’s Government quarter at Puri, two-storied buildings at Matiapada in Puri and Behera Sahi in Bhubaneswar, paternal house at Mankaragaradi in Konarka and office room inside the Puri prison campus.
During searches so far, assets to the tune of Rs 1.20 crore owned by Pradhan and his relatives have been detected. These include, immovable properties amounting to Rs 81.55 lakh and movable asset of Rs 38 lakh.
Pradhan joined as Assistant Jailor in February 1981 and promoted to the rank of Suprintendant of Jail May 2013 and posted in Puri district Jail, Vigilance sources said. Further investigation is on.
