CUTTACK: Rich tributes were paid to Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das on his 169th birth anniversary at his birth place in Satyabhamapur village under Salepur block here on Friday. Politicians, social activists, litterateurs, industrialists and eminent people from various walks of life rushed to the village and paid floral tributes to Madhu Babu.
Like every year, members of Jagatpur Industrial Association brought 'Madhu Jyoti' (flambeau) in a grand procession from Madhu Babu's burial place at Gorakabar to his ancestral house at Satyabhamapur early in the morning. In the evening, Madhu Smruti Committee organised a meeting which was presided by Cuttack ADM Laxmidhar Mohanty and attended by MP Narendra Swain, president of Utkal Sammilani Guru Prasad Mohanty and Cuttack SP (Rural) Madhab Chandra Sahoo among others.
On the occasion, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda unveiled a statue of Madhu Babu at Jagatpur Golei Chowk.
