BHADRAK : Prohibitory   orders were clamped in Dhamnagar of Bhadrak town following tension over a fire outbreak on Saturday.

Fire had erupted in Dhamnagar main market on Friday night and five rooms were gutted. With a group of people spreading rumour that the fire mishap was a result of communal violence, the local administration immediately clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC.

The Collector and the SP rushed to the spot and five platoons of police force were deployed.
However, the victim, in whose house the fire started, has not filed any police complaint, said Collector Gyanaranjan Das. The district administration has provided compensation of Rs 2.64 lakh to the victim.

SP Anup Das said no untoward incident has taken place but  prohibitory orders will be in force for 24 hours.


Meanwhile, curfew has been relaxed for 16 hours in Bhadrak town. More than 235 people have been arrested by the district police in connection with the communal violence that erupted on April 6 and 7.
