One held for circulating obscene pics

Police arrested a man from Deoghar for allegedly circulating obscene pictures of a minor girl on Facebook.

BHUBANESWAR: Police arrested a man from Deoghar for allegedly circulating obscene pictures of a minor girl on Facebook. He has been identified as Amit Jaiswal of Jharkhand but currently residing in Deoghar. Jaiswal came in contact with the girl while working with a courier company at Buddha Nagar under Laxmisagar police limits in the Capital between September and November. The two entered into a relationship but after three months, Jaiswal left his job and went back to Deoghar.

The girl, a Plus II student of a city-based college, used to talk to one of her male friends which infuriated Jaiswal. He opened a Facebook profile with the girl’s identity and subsequently sent her personal pictures to her male friend on FB. The girl’s friend alerted her about the matter and subsequently the victim’s family lodged a complaint with Laxmisagar police in November.

A three member police team left for Jharkhand recently and nabbed Jaiswal from his house with the assistance of their counterparts in Deoghar. “We produced Jaiswal in a court there and brought him to Odisha on transit remand. A case has been registered against him under Sections 292, 465, 469 and 509 IPC along with Sections 66 (C), 67 and 67 (a) of IT Act,” Laxmisagar police said. Two mobile phones have also been seized from Jaiswal and verification is on, he added.
