Leopard carcass found

Carcass of a leopard was found in a forest in Raighar block of Nabarangpur district on Tuesday, a day after it attacked a 45-year-old villager in Toreidihi village under the same block.

UMERKOTE (NABARANGPUR):  Carcass of a leopard was found in a forest in Raighar block of Nabarangpur district on Tuesday, a day after it attacked a 45-year-old villager in Toreidihi village under the same block. However, forest officials are not sure how the leopard died.

It had attacked Rup Singh of the village while he was grazing cattle in the forest on Monday morning. Subsequently, the cattle attacked the leopard forcing the animal to escape into the forest. Some villagers then rescued Singh and admitted him to a health centre.

On Tuesday morning, villagers found the animal dead. The reason behind the death of the animal will be ascertained after postmortem of the carcass, said DFO, Nabarangpur, Swayam Mallick.
