ANGUL: AT a time when raids are being conducted on gas agencies across the State to check illegal storage of gas cylinders, Angul district authorities seized 73 Indane cylinders from Chhendipada on Wednesday.
District Collector Anil Kumar Samal ordered the crackdown following a tip-off about storage of illegal cylinders at a godown at Chhendipada. A team of police, supply officials and Magistrate rushed to Chhangudia village under Chhendipada block in the morning and seized 73 filled cylinders. The godown owner, Sudhakar Sahu, has been detained and was being interrogated by police, said sources.
The Collector said similar strikes will continue on other suspected places in the district to unearth illegal storage of gas cylinders.
