KENDRAPARA: Four fishermen, who were stranded in the sea for around 10 days after their mechanized boat’s engine failed, were rescued on Monday.

They are Ratan Ray (22), Manik Das (35), Tushar Das (45) and Kiran Das (58) of Ramnagar village under Mahakalapada block in Kendrapara district. The fishermen had ventured into the sea on January 12 for fishing but lost their way back to the coast at the fishing jetty at Kharinashi after their boat went defunct following a technical snag.

The high tides drifted their vessel towards Andhra Pradesh, where they clutched on to the boat and battled for life for 10 days with the little food and water they had with them.
